CREATIVE POLICY

1. Language Assistance

This website and my artwork include English text that was refined using language support tools such as ChatGPT.
All ideas, meaning, and tone were entirely conceived by me.
Because some nuances are difficult to convey through direct translation, I used these tools to help shape the wording so it feels clear and natural in English.
Every phrase was reviewed with multiple translation references and manually refined to ensure it reflects my genuine thoughts and creative vision.
All content was directed and finalized by me—no text was fully generated by AI.

2. Email and Communication Support

For English communication—such as email or contact forms—I use ChatGPT as a language support tool.
To fully respect privacy, I have set it so that no data is stored or used for AI training.
The tool is used only to help clarify meaning and make communication smoother.

3. Ethical Use of AI

I use ChatGPT as a language support tool, but all final expressions are carefully reviewed to ensure they reflect my own values.
I do not use AI-generated images, music, or video in my creative work, and I have no intention of using them in the future.
I am concerned that relying on image generation may gradually erode the drawing skills, imagination, and individuality I have developed over many years.
Regarding AI-generated music, I have many friends who are musicians, and I’ve seen their passion, dedication, and the long journey they’ve taken to refine their craft—so I want to respect what they’ve built.
Similarly, I avoid AI-generated photos and videos, as the sources used to train these models are often unclear, and such content is frequently used in ways that raise ethical concerns.

4. Artistic Process and Technique

All artworks featured on this website are created entirely by hand using Clip Studio Paint,
crafted with meticulous attention to detail, texture, and narrative.
Images displayed online are optimized specifically for web viewing.
During the creation process, I carefully manage and preserve the subtle nuances of original halftone textures and colors,
striving for stability and consistency while embracing a uniquely personal reimagining of traditional methods.

All text in my artwork is hand-drawn, except for comic dialogue, which is set in the official “Clip Studio Comic” font provided with Clip Studio Paint (licensed for use only by Clip Studio Paint users).
The custom fonts I use are inspired by retro signage and packaging, and are carefully created by hand without tracing or directly adapting the shapes of existing fonts.
I incorporate this method to honor the analog spirit of the vintage era and to protect the rights and integrity of existing fonts.

5. Print and Output Settings

All artworks are created in RGB mode using Clip Studio Paint. Throughout the process, I incorporate halftone textures and brushes designed to emulate the look and layering of traditional CMYK printing (cyan, magenta, yellow, and key/black)—combined with my own interpretation and adjustments beyond standard techniques. This approach allows for a rich and expressive range of colors.

Images displayed on my website are exported in RGB format and optimized for web viewing, which includes image compression and may not preserve the original dot structure at full resolution.

For clients, collaborators, or other third parties, files can be prepared in either RGB or CMYK format as specified. When CMYK is requested, files are delivered as flattened images with all colors merged. Please note that due to differences between RGB and CMYK color modes, printed colors may appear slightly more subdued.

If a client specifically requires CMYK-separated plates—cyan, magenta, yellow, and key (black)—I can accommodate that request. However, this method differs from my usual creative process and may result in colors appearing slightly more muted and a slightly narrower color range compared to works based on RGB.

6. Cultural References and Artistic Intention

My artwork is inspired—respectfully—by elements of American visual culture, including historical architecture, signage, streetscapes, and everyday design motifs from the past.

However, all scenes and characters I depict are fictional. They are not created to be precise, factual representations of any specific real place, person, or historical period.

When illustrating buildings, objects, or street scenes, I often draw from structural patterns typical of the time, but reimagine them into fictional spaces that suggest the atmosphere and structure of the era, even though they are not based on any real location.

As such, these works are not historical records or documentation. They are artistic interpretations informed by inner impressions, atmosphere, and imagination.

7. Use of Vintage Materials

All vintage materials featured on this website are part of my personal collection,
and are presented solely to provide cultural context and to accompany the articles and notes on this site.
They are shown with full respect for their original creators, manufacturers, and historical context.

These materials are not intended for any commercial use, redistribution, or reproduction by third parties.

Any copyrights, trademarks, or other rights related to these materials
remain the property of their respective rights holders.

8. Copyright and Usage

All of my works are protected by copyright. Unauthorized use, reproduction, redistribution, or use for AI training purposes is strictly prohibited.

These works are excluded from any form of compulsory license, orphan works license, or similar legal exceptions under domestic or international law. Under no circumstances may they be interpreted as being in the public domain or used without prior permission.

My works or characters must not be used as free-floating assets — such as icons, stickers, merchandise elements, or media materials — without my explicit permission.
Please do not upload, redistribute, or repurpose any of my artworks or characters, even with credit.

Please refrain from creating or sharing any content — whether AI-generated or hand-drawn — that imitates my work, or that presents itself as if made by me.
Works that strongly resemble my artistic identity or YUYU’s world should not be published or circulated,
as they may cause confusion or misrepresentation of my creative intent.
My intention is not to restrict creativity, but simply to protect the authenticity of my work and its world.

However, hand-drawn illustrations made with innocent affection—such as by children who simply love YUYU—are warmly appreciated,
as long as they are shared privately (for example, within families or close circles) and not used for commercial purposes or presented as official material.
If someone ever draws YUYU with love, I’d be happy to see it myself.

I hope that YUYU, in their own quiet way, may be loved by people of all ages—even by children who see them for the first time.
Thank you for keeping the spirit of my work intact.
